What is MEMORAe ?

With the MEMORAe approach, we wanted to model and design a web platform to manage all the heterogeneous resources of knowledge circulating in an organization. The platform, with the same name as the approach, has been thought and developed in order to facilitate the organizational learning and the capitalization of the knowledge from a semantic modeling. It harnesses the power of new technologies support for collaboration (web 2.0 technologies, tactile tables, etc.) and is based on semantic web standards. The core of innovation concerns the organization around a knowledge map of the whole private or shared resources, resulting from a formal or informal process within a group of individuals (team, service, project, organization, etc.) The use of a semantic map makes it possible to define a common repository in which it is possible to navigate to access resources capitalized in different spaces. These spaces are visible in parallel and facilitate the transfer of knowledge between individuals.




General Principles

Integrated Platform

One of the strengths of the MEMORAe platform is its complete integration of all the functionalities needed to host a collaboration server and knowledge capitalization. It includes all its features in the same application: it is not an association of different software offering the desired functionality.

Knowledge Map

The knowledge map is the graphical representation of the definition of the shared referential of the chosen organization. You can navigate this map and select a focus node (click on a node). This node then takes on the status of active index, the one that is considered to make visible the resources in the spaces of sharing. By passing the cursor over a link, one can see the nature/description of the relationship, the same applies to the nodes.

Spaces of sharing

  • A shared space makes it possible to make visible a set of resources shared by the members of this space. The same resource can be seen in different spaces, but it remains stored in a single place.
  • Each user has a share space accessible only by itself (private)...
  • The visualization of shared spaces in parallel facilitates the transfer of resources from one space to another and therefore sharing: drag-and-drop.

User Box

The user box appears at the top right of the interface. It concerns information specific to the user. First, the user is asked to choose the organization for which he wants to use the collaboration platform. Once selected, the associated knowledge map of the selected organization is displayed.

Organisation of resources

  • Organisation of resources is :
    • around the common repository and allows different accesses on the resources according to their semantic description, any resource can be indexed by its contents (the concepts it treats) or its container (author, date of creation, etc.);
    • depending on the user's access rights to the sharing spaces for viewing them.

Resources

  • Modeling of documentary resources and / or resulting from a social process (pdf file, semantic forum, semantic chat, semantic wiki semantic agenda, etc.).
  • Human Resource Modeling: Who knows what?
  • Annotation of resources, parts of resources or concepts (components of the common repository); The annotation itself is considered a resource. It is therefore accessible in the sharing spaces as a resource or via the resource annotated.

Corporate Social Networking

  • The platform manages its own social network of company/organization.

Share space-related features

Annotation

Annotations are full-fledged resources, they are indexed and accessible in one or more sharing spaces in the same way as a document.

  • Concepts: By concentrating on a concept, it can be annotated.
  • Resources: Added resources can be annotated globally or by parts (video, image, pdf, html). An annotation can be indexed.

Contact Management

A contact is considered a resource in its own right. It is therefore indexed and accessible in one or more sharing spaces in the same way as a document.

To each concept, one can associate a set of contacts.

Interaction Trace

Module of presentation of the activities carried out within the platform according to different criteria. You can see the traces interaction:
  • By sharing space: according to the focus to be set according to the type of activity (creation or consultation), Date and resource type (document, annotation, question, etc.)
  • Per user: regardless of the share space and focus.

Voting system

The relevance of indexed resources within a shared space can be assessed through a voting system. Ratings are given from 1 to 5.

Recommendation system

From the activity observed in a sharing space on the focus the most relevant people are identified on a topic based on the activities carried out.

Search Engine

You can search for resources by their tags using the MEMORAe search engine.

Bookmarks

A bookmarks is a set of entry points on the common repository identified by members of a shared space

    Bookmarks Concepts: One way to quickly access a concept is to create bookmarks. The list of bookmarks is displayed in the box of the sharing space.
  • Resource Bookmarks: Like concepts, resources can be marked as favorites.

Articles Wiki

MEMORAe allows you to add Wiki articles as resources.


Fonctionality related user box

Forum

The forum is a way to ask questions considered as resources in their own right. The list of concepts is displayed And by clicking on a concept one can ask a question by filling out a form.

Analysis activity for user

Personal analysis allows the user to know what concept he has worked on The more and on what concept it needs to improve regardless of the sharing space.

Personal history

Personal history allows you to view the list of concepts and resources recently accessed.
For any element of this history, if we click on it will be brought back.


Semantic map related features

Card handling box

The semantic map of MEMORAe can be manipulated thanks to a box. You can zoom in and zoom out, focus on node and filter map by node type or link.
